Lighting Setup
The setup for profile lighting is quite simple.
Just turn your subject 90 degrees from the camera so you can get a nice sideways look at your subject.

Then place the main light at a 45 degree angle from the subject, on the side further from the camera.
This lighting technique is not often used because it is not as flattering.
If you subject has a large nose, you can be sure that profile lighting will draw the viewer’s attention to this!
When used creatively, however, profile lighting can add depth and drama to your clients’ portrait sessions.
It is possible to set the main, key light directly in front of the subject but it might be a little flat.
You can add a fill light if you think it will creatively enhance the image.
Love your camera. Love yourself. Love your photos.
