Mastering Glamour Images Photography

An ambitious photographer should give some thought to the nature of glamour images as they are, for, while being desribed by a wide range of definitions, they never are truly understood. Nude and sexually appealing photographs do not equal glamour ones. There can be enough erotics in Glamour Pictures, making them sexually appealing and sultry, yet there surely can be no pornography about them. Actually, speaking of glamour images we should usually mean a mixture of sex and romance, desire and charms concocted together in a stunning combination to make a perfect glamour photograph – yet they should always possess some aesthetics. A good glamour artist should not only be aware of capital technical issues e.g. lighting, gear and composition, but have enough charisma, energy and appeal to engage the model into psychological contact and encourage her to feel at ease for a great outcome.

Glamour image equipments include a studio, cameras, lighting, props, etc. However, amateurs and aspiring photographers do not have the comfort of having all those expensive equipment, so one can borrow or start as assistant in learning the skills of handling the equipment. You must have spotted that many glamour images are shot vertically, as if in opposition to the common horizontal format, in a fruitful attempt to develop some delivering concept. Additionally, should you pay more attention to models on the pictures, you will notice they also have something quite slim and vertical to their faces and shapes.

Another instrument capable to enhance your glamour photographs is props and background. Glamour images are focused on the model and not the background so some photographers tend to ignore the background, however, a good photographer should always give extra attention by choosing a background that is in sharp contrast to the model or the attire. It shouldn’t be cluttered but rather solid. Entourage and small details are not a must-have, though in some situations they might be of use. For example, if one has to shoot a model on bikini at a beach, a surfboard would be a great prop and would add extra meaning to the overall image.

All those fancy technical nuances put aside, manipulating light is the basic and the most essential skill an artist needs in order to truly master Glamour Photography. Photography is only possible due to light, and in glamour images it cannot be over-estimated. It comes from various sources, both human-made and natural, and it takes great skill to bend it to your artistic will; yet when you harness it, you can be called a true genius of glamour photography.
