dSLR Advantages – Longer Battery Life

As one of the dSLR advantages, a longer battery life means you can shoot more pictures without having to worry about needing to recharge your battery.

An important advantage over point-and-shoot models is that you can take several hundred photos on a single charge of the battery.

While some of this is due to bigger batteries for a dSLR camera, it is also because dSLRs don’t use the LCD for composition.

The LCD screen is what people use to compose photographs on a point and shoot camera. The necessity of keeping a large screen illuminated requires a lot of battery power.

This is why most point and shoot cameras need to be charged more often than dSLR cameras.

dSLR cameras, on the other hand, don’t use the LCD for composition and thus conserve a lot of battery power for when it is needed.

What does this mean to you as a photographer? You can leave the camera turned on for days at a time and still be able to shoot a few more photos.

You don’t have to worry about your battery dying on you if you’ve forgotten to turn off your camera.

Love your camera. Love yourself. Love your photos.
