Adobe Lightroom
Adobe Lightroom is a great product for photographers. It allows photographers to catalog, sort, develop, and print their photos using one application.
It is the primary tool I use to sort, catalog and edit my photos.
As well, Lightroom has several modules to help with the finished product including web and print slide shows.
Lightroom was intended as a product developed solely for photographers who wanted the power of Photoshop without all that extra “stuff” which graphics designers
In early 2007, Adobe started shipping Lightroom version 1 and it was very well received. Since that time, Adobe has released version 2 of Lightroom (link will open in a new window).
The current version of Lightroom is 2.5 and was released on September 15th, 2009. Adobe recently made an announcement for a public beta of Lightroom 3 (link will open in a new window).
A Brief Look
Lightroom is a relatively “lightweight” software application (when compared to its bigger sibling, Adobe Photoshop). It is built on “modules” which intends to streamline the photographer’s work flow.
The modules are:
- Library
- Develop
- Slideshow
- Web
I spend most of my time in the Library and Develop modules because that is where the bulk of my creativity occurs.
Lightroom is an excellent product and I highly recommend it. It was designed with photographers in mind and I feel it greatly simplifies things for digital photography.
Love your camera. Love yourself. Love your photos.
